A big thanks to OpenNTF !

Hi all,

today, it's really about time to give a big thanks to OpenNTF and the efforts behind it. As a business partner, we are currently releasing a new product to the market, that acts as a portal framework for internet and intranet portals based on IBM Lotus Domino 8.5.x and XPages techonolgy. We had a lot to develop there, from acces control mechanisms, flexible, customizable browser functionality, roles and interests based content aggregation and management and a lot more.

But we are a small company. So, can we build a wiki component on our own ?  Or discussion forums ? We could, but, no, we decided to go with components that are already there, so we picked the XPages Wiki and xTalk for discussion forums and just extended our portal with integration points to these apps coming from OpenNTF. Instead of spending weeks of development, we were able to integrate those components within a few days into our portal framework, so customers can use them stand-alone or as content blocks within our portal. I will put some screenshots up here as soon as I have the time. Also, we did learn a lot from these projects in terms of an "how-to" Approach for our own components. After taking so much from there, we have to think about giving back something as well. So, from us - cheers to OpenNTF, live long and prosper !

Heiko.

You are more then welcome for xTalk. I'm glad that you have found a use for it. It is always nice to hear where people are using applications from OpenNTF.

Could you email me if you have a chance. I'd love to get a testimonial from you on xTalk for the OpenNTF Lotus Awards.

Heiko / Declan, We would like to use both xTalk and the quote that Heiko made (above) at Lotusphere. In order to fit the slides we need to cut down on the words though. Can we use the following quote?

We picked the XPages Wiki and xTalk for discussion forums... Instead of spending weeks of development, we were able to integrate those components within a few days....

So, from us - cheers to OpenNTF, live long and prosper ! Heiko Voigt

Thanks. Angus
